Dr. habil. Árpád Olivér Homicskó

Dr. Árpád Olivér Homicskó has primarily devoted his legal practice to labour, social security, social, health care and medical law matters. He has been a member of the Budapest Bar Association since his successful bar exam in 2009. Over the past decade, he has gained significant experience in providing legal services to social and health care institutions, as well as to social legal entities and non-profit companies. He speaks Hungarian and English.

In addition to his legal practice, his work in legal higher education and research is also remarkable. As Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law and Deputy Head of the Department of Labour Law and Social Security at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary, he teaches labour law, social protection, social security and health care law. From 2011 onwards, he has also run courses at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of the University of Szeged, Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, and the University of Public Service. In addition, he also provides courses for civil servants on healthcare, pension, employment, social, and family policy, as well as labour and civil service law. He was awarded a certificate of merit by the Hungarian Minister of Justice in 2019 for his outstanding professional and research efforts and contributions to education.

He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary (KRE ÁJK). This was followed by a master’s degree as a European Master in Social Security from the Catholic University of Leuven, prior to obtaining his PhD title at the Doctoral School of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of the University of Szeged in 2008. From 1st February 2010, he was the scientific secretary of the Doctoral School of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of Károli Gáspár University while, since 1st July 2010 he has been acting Vice Dean for International Relations and Research. He was awarded his habilitation, entitling him to teach at the highest levels, in 2016. From 2005 onwards he has taken part in international seminars and fellowships organised by the University of Montesquieu Bordeaux IV in France several times, and frequently had the opportunity to run courses. In 2011 he earned a postdoctoral fellowship and conducted research at the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy in Munich, Germany.
